'Night sketch - I get restless ' is  one of a growing series of small drawings made when sleep is evasive and a restless energy needs to be expressed. This restlessness increased throughout the period of lockdown & post-lockdown restrictions, which imposed on most of us a societal period of being ‘grounded’. The sketches themselves are small, scratched out with a biro and tiny reading light, serving to push out the rising sense of claustrophobia and constriction. The space on the page becomes the space in my mind, the movements of pen & hand amplified in my imagination to some form of freestyle night time pirouetting.
